Tuesday Tutor #1 – Elastic Audio

It amazes me at how fast you guys are! I sent the email out last night and there are 11 people signed up thus far for the first Tuesday Tutor event. Two spots left! Here are the details again!

San Diego Pro Tools User Group
Tuesday Tutor Series #1 – Elastic Audio

Frustrated with Elastic Audio? Not sure whether to choose Elastic Audio or Beat Detective to fix timing issues? Come join us for this hands-on explanation on Elastic Audio to see how easy it is to manipulate your recordings as needed. We will take Elastic Audio, introduced in Pro Tools 7.4, break it down into its basic components, and explain how to use it in your everyday sessions. You will learn how to fix the timing of drums, match loops to your session’s tempo, align vocal tracks, and change the phrasing of audio sections, all non-destructively with Elastic Audio. This is not just a lecture, you will walk away understanding what Elastic Audio is and how to use it. Come learn the difference between Event Markers and Warp Markers and how you can stretch your audio to match just about anything!

The Tuesday Tutor Series of events will be held in the training room of The Recording Arts Center at Studio West. Space is limited to the first 13 participants to RSVP. Each participant will follow along on an iMac based Pro Tools LE system with the same material the instructor is using for the demonstration. Start thinking of your questions now to get the most out of this in-depth session.

Something FRESH Is In The Oven

January 12, 2010

Hello and Happy New Year! Welcome back to the SDPTUG! We took a little break but we are back in action planning out some events for the 2010 year. Get ready to get up close and personal with some of the features of Pro Tools that the pros use all the time!

Stay tuned. We are just getting started!

Check Out the New Discussion Forums

May 20, 2009

Everyone should head on over to: http://sdptug.proboards.com/

Sign up and start posting away. Please be friendly and helpful. This is just the start. Let me know what topics you would like to see added to the forum! Suggestions are ALWAYS welcome.

FREE PLUG-INS!

May 13, 2009

The title says it all! I was just turned on to these two free plug-ins. I will admit, they are still downloading so I have not heard them. I thought I would share the news anyway.

There are two on the site below. There is the BitterSweet II, a transient shaper, and Stereo Tool, offering more control on a master output. Check them out, leave comments, let us know what you think!

Discussion Forums?

May 11, 2009

I feel the time has come to add some style of a discussion forum to the SDPTUG site. I do not plan on this forum taking away from our meetings and events but it would be great to have a way to stay in touch with all of our users/members and also give people quick access to answers when their Pro Tools system may be troubling them.

The question that I propose is how would you like it to be handled? Would you prefer a Yahoo or Google group where the posts/replies can be sent to your email? Would you prefer a forum on the SDPTUG site that you have to log in to read or post (like the DUC on the Digidesign site). What other options are there?

If you are a member of another online forum somewhere, and you like the way it works, how about you email me and let me know the site and I can check it out to see if it will work with our site. You can email me at caleb@tracsd.com.

Our next meeting is in the works and will be announced very soon. Until then, keep on rocking in the Pro Tools world.

And … We are Back!

April 27, 2009

Dear Pro Tools Friends,

Have you ever had one of those months where sleep is not an option because your to do list occupies all 24 hours of every day? In my dictionary, that is called April. Rest assured though, that the SDPTUG is alive and well, and growing!

We are working out the final details for our next meeting. We are shooting for sometime near the end of May or beginning of June. The location and topic details will follow soon.

Thanks for standing by!

Certified Users Listing Updated

March 4, 2009

Here is just a quick note to let you know that I have updated the Digidesign Certified Users Listing page here on the site. Take a look and let me know if I have your information correct. Your name shows up as a blue link and if you want, I can link that to your email. Just email me and let me know what email address you want to use. I will not add anyone’s email address to this site without their permission first.

See you at the first SDPTUG meeting on March 24!

Caleb

Pro Tools Training Videos Online

January 29, 2009

Hello All,

I came across this on the world wide web yesterday so I thought I would share it with you.

Mac Pro Video

They have a Pro Tools 8 FREEBIE! You have to download their media player, his name is N.E.D, but other than that, it seems OK.

Does anyone else know of some good Pro Tools online goodies?
